It is quite common now for an insurer to request a policyholder’s driving licence information when arranging a motor insurance policy. Due to the abolishment of the paper counterpart of the driving licence this is now done via an online service provided by the DVLA.
This service has been introduced to help prevent fraud, reduce fraudulent claims and as a result ultimately reduce your insurance premiums!
Insurers use this service to:
- view your driving record, eg vehicles you can drive
- check any penalty points or disqualifications you have
Below is a link to the DVLA website, we would ask that you please use this link and follow the onscreen instructions. Once completed this will provide you with your personal licence ‘check code’.
Before you begin you will need:
- your driving licence number
- your National Insurance number
- the postcode on your driving licence
We would then ask that you please complete the form outlined below to submit the information to us.
If you experience any difficulty with this please do not hesitate to contact us.
